Here are the suggested routes and maps for the Runners and Walkers for our Bus Trip to the Waikanae River on August 25. Should be enjoyable for all.
The routes are scenic, flat and on well-formed tracks.
Runners will get dropped off first on Manly Street, Paraparaumu near the intersection with Hadfield Place. Bus will then drop Walkers and Slower Running Group off at the Otaihanga Domain, Makora Road, Paraparaumu and remain there to pick everyone up afterwards. The Bus can either park up somewhere in the Domain or out on the street. There are toilets at the Otaihanga Domain.
Runners – Waikanae Estuary, Waimanu Lagoons, Waikanae River (Approx. 15 km)
Runners will leave from Manly Street and run through the Estuary to the Otaihanga Domain, cross the bridge to the Waikanae side of the river, turning left towards the beach and run around the Waimanu Lagoons. Return to the bridge and staying on the Waikanae side (northern side) follow the river trail all the way (up river) to the old State Highway 1 (Now SH59). Cross the new bridge and then follow the river trail on the southern side all the way to return to the Otaihanga Domain.
Walkers will leave from the Otaihanga Domain and cross the bridge to the Waikanae side of the river (northern side) and follow the river trail all the way (up river) to the first bridge. Cross the bridge and then follow the river trail on the southern side all the way to return to the Otaihanga Domain.
Slower Running Group – Waikanae River (Approx. 9.5 km)
Runners will leave from the Otaihanga Domain and cross the bridge to the Waikanae side of the river (northern side) and follow the river trail all the way (up river), continuing past the first bridge to the old State Highway 1 (Now SH59). Cross the new bridge and then follow the river trail on the southern side all the way to return to the Otaihanga Domain.
Attached is a photo to accompany this and help promote the trip.
I’ll let others organise the Café, perhaps somewhere on Paraparaumu Beach or a return to Paekakariki and then forward this onto Stan to put on the website including photo.
Yes, the Reservation Table is a little bit slow to update. In all likelihood, you probably have registered correctly. If you visit the same page, from another device (phone or computer), it probably will show your reservations after a short wait. If you still have issues, or double or even triple booked, please Contact Us (and I will set things right).
