I’ve got to give kudos to Mark Growcott for his Dorne Cup article in Saturday’s Post (07 July 2025).
Informative and strangely relevant for this moment.
When I used to run, or see packs of runners and walkers out and about on the Wellington streets and off-road tracks, hearing their casual banter as they passed. The visual of a pack wearing the same uniform (top and shorts) definitely had more impact on me than watching a group of individuals pass by.
Who is this group?
Where are they from?
They seem very fit.
They’re having a great time, enjoying the outdoors, and what Wellington has to offer.
I encourage all members to get behind this initiative by purchasing and wearing a WRW Top on each WRW outing.
The Tops look smart, are designed well with a great distinctive logo (thanks Emma Daly).
The Tops are also reminiscent of past WMC Tops, linking our past with the current and future.
Over time, the wearer will immediately be recognised as a WRW member. It’s free advertising for the club.
What’s the deal?
A minimum order of 25 garments will seal the deal.
Indicative price to members per Top (for all Top types) may be about $50,
but could drop to about $43 if 50 or more garments are purchased.

Should the deal go ahead, members will be informed of the price, amount owing, and asked to pay for orders via the club’s bank account.
Delivery Date
Delivery of the tops are expected to be post 31st July 2025. A definite date to be confirmed here.
Conditions
- You must be a Confirmed WRW member or a past member.
That is…
you have registered with the WRW and confirmed you are the owner of the email address provided.
If you have received 2025 WRW Newsletters, then you are Confirmed.
Or used to receive the WRW or WMC Newsletters.
Or a family member is Confirmed for family subscriptions. - Orders from unconfirmed persons may be ignored.
WRW won’t ask for an email on the WRW Top Registration forms for security reasons.
WRW must be able to associate the name provided in the order with a Confirmed current or past WRW member.
What happens next
Once the deal goes through.
Your order details, amount owing, and WRW bank account number will be emailed to you.

Pick up your ordered tops in person at Akau Tangi stadium on a Sunday morning.
Or arrange with a committee member for an alternative pick up.
